Yes. You Too Can Write For Art Palaver

April 8th, 2008 Daryle Dickens

I have been asked and I have had people hint at writing a post for Art Palaver. But yet have I had anyone follow through with a submission. I think it would be great to have other writers for this blog. And I know there are plenty of qualified writers out there who would create some really good and creative posts. Which would just add to the quality of the discussion.

Consider this my invitation for writers. If you have something to say in relation to art this is a good place to say it. Art Palaver saw over 10,000 unique visitors in the month of March. And that number grows with each month. Drop me an email if your interested.

Thanks,

Daryle

P.S. Guest bloggers would reduce the likelihood of lame post like this one.

Time Again To Ruminate

March 31st, 2008 Daryle Dickens

Ruminate 8

Ruminate is a literature and art magazine published here in Fort Collins. The quarterly magazine just released issue #7. This is what the publishers have to say about it…

"Our Spring 2008 Issue 07: Addiction is officially released! It features exciting art from Deanne Moulten and Josh J. Peters, fiction from Linda McCullough Moore and Stacy Barton, nonfiction from Christopher J. Gaumer, and poetry from Jeffry C. Davis and Amanda McQuade…just to name a few. And all of it engages the theme of "Addiction" in surprising and profound ways."

And they have also created a poetry prize…

"The Janet B. McCabe Poetry Prize was established to honor a woman who loved words, books, and most of all "things of beauty" as Keats would say.  Janet–the grandmother of RUMINATE’s founding editor–was also a large part of the inspiration for our magazine. And so it only seemed fitting to create this poetry prize in order to honor the poets today who are pursuing beauty and the amazing woman who inspired our pursuit of RUMINATE.

We invite you to enter your poetry! The submission deadline is May 15th, 2008; entry fee is $15. $300 will be awarded to the winner and $150 to the runner-up. The winner will be featured in the 2008 Fall Issue."

Go to http://ruminatemagazine.com/ for all the detail on how to get your copy and also to submit.

Rocky Mountain Chronicle’s Design Fort Collins Logo Contest

March 17th, 2008 admin

Think you can do better than this:

Fort Collins Logo

Then put your pixels where your mouth is in The Rocky Mountain Chronicle’s Logo Redesign Contest.

The city of Fort Collins paid $80,000 to a Tennessee-based marketing firm to come up with a new “brand” for our community, including a fresh logo and slogan, “where renewal is a way of life.” The product is now temporarily shelved, and we’ve heard people complain that the new package would better portray some type of feminine sanitary product than a city.
We think Chronicle readers can do better, so we’re launching our own logo and tagline REDESIGN CONTEST.

We’re looking for the entertaining and the irreverent, the cynical and the sublime: you know, kind of like us.

Logos can be in any medium (drawings, dioramas, graffiti art, tattoos, etc.) and not-so-artsy wordsmiths can send us tagline and slogan ideas.

We’ll accept submissions through April 3 and announce winners in our April 17 issue. Contestants can send their designs and ideas to fclogo@rmchronicle.comThis email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or bring them by Chronicle HQ at 316 W. Mountain Ave. in Fort Collins. Entries will be judged by Chronicle staff.
Winners will get $80,000 and a trip to Tennessee (just kidding).
The winners actually get 25 t-shirts printed by Go West with their designs and taglines on them along with gift certificates to the Matter Bookstore and Fish Restaurant.
For more details, email fclogo@rmchronicle.comThis email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or call 493-4702.

I have mine in the works. Looking forward to seeing what else people come up with.
