One of the definitions of the word palaver is “to have a long discussion.” And on this site it is my goal to have a long discussion about art and the artist’s life. In order to achieve that I am continually looking for ways to add voices to the conversation. Starting in May 2010 I would like to begin featuring a different artist every week as a way to stimulate more dialogue.
Every week I will select one artist from artists who submit a request to be considered. That artist’s work and an article about them will be on display in the large “featured” section of the Art Palaver home page. I guarantee this large article will be posted for at least 48 hours on the home page. It will include at least 300 words about the artist as well as images of the artist’s work.
The artist’s work will also be displayed in a separate image box on the Art Palaver home page and can have up to 4 different images in rotation which will link back to the AP article about the artist. After the artist has been featured for 1 week their images will be moved down to the lower right area of the home page and be on display for another four weeks. (These will be replacing the ads that are currently in that area.) The article along with the images will also go out via RSS and email. And of course I’ll be mentioning the featured artist on my other networks like Twitter and Facebook.
It is my hope that Art Palaver is able to bring more attention and drive more traffic to various independent artist’s sites and create more dialogue amongst artists.
How do I get my art featured?
Simply fill out a contact form letting more you’d like to see your art featured on Art Palaver. I’ll be looking for artists that have a web presence so that I have something to link to. This can be a blog, a website, an Etsy shop, or anything along those lines. Ideally I am looking for artists that offer their work for sale via the internet. When you contact me let me know where I can find you and your work online.
If I select you as a future featured artist you will receive an email questionnaire to fill out. This will provide the information I need to write up the article. I’ll also need 4 images of your work. After I get the completed questionnaire back I will then get you on the schedule.
Who is going to be the first? I’d like to see this kick off on May 3rd so let me know if you are ready.
